The research team of National Taiwan University has won an international academic award with the amount of US$4.5 million to do the research and development of solar energy lighting, energy saving cooling system and desalination technology.

Professor of the department of chemical engineering, Dr. Nae-Lih Wu, he is also the Director of newly established Energy Research Center. He invited professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Director of New Energy Center, Dr. Bin-Juine Huang, to design the research topics and organize the research team members and proposed Solar Building Technology as the project theme. The research work is to follow the existing academic experience of New Energy Center and to collaborate with the management philosophy of the industry, to emphasize the system integration of research and development and innovation, to operate the top down model.

With the past management achievements and contribution to the academy and the industry of New Energy Center, the proposal has received highly recognition and recommendation by the world famous evaluation committee members and won the grand prize.
