Precision Metrology Laboratory Introduction

Beginning with precision machines, MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanic System) and going through the present popular industries such as electric industry, IC manufacturing, IC fabrications and tests, etc., there are many things which show the importance and concern for precise fixed-position system and precision metrology in the continuously flourishing development of Hi-technology industry.

Under the supervision of Professor Liang-Chia Chen, the Laboratory of Manufacturing Metrology have been publishing many proud results of research in the field of precise metrology. Not only does the laboratory formulate new theories in the academic circles, but it also develops many surmounting technologies and offers industry professional technology guidance.

The laboratory can be ranked as the pioneer of domestic precision metrology; it plays a decisive role in this field. The laboratory goes through much cooperation between the different universities and government organizations and private enterprises, and has a frequent international academic interflow.

The laboratory always maintains consistent valuable application and world synchrony. We hope to continue contributing to the metrology field in the years to come.

Research Focus: Automated optical inspection (AOI)

AOI is a tool for assessing workmanship compliance in Prototype as well as Production and assembly environments, in pursuit of not only 100% quality guarantee, but also intelligent manufacturing for optimal production. With advanced scanning mechanisms, lighting, optics, automatic control and image processing capabilities, the AOI systems can greatly enhance inspection repeatability, accuracy and throughput. AOI plays a vital role in test strategies designed to ensure the highest possible quality throughout each phase of a product life cycle.
